Green Turtle on Sandy Shoal

I chose some beautifully-grained brazilian cherry (which harmonizes well with the colors of the turtle shell) and crafted a "shadowbox" frame with an hand-rubbed linseed oiled finish. This is the first in a series of three paintings. The next piece depicts a green turtle swimming over turtle grass directly towards the viewer. The other captures three baby green turtles swimming out to sea in the shorebreak.
